The name on your card and in the app do not match.

“It keeps saying the information does not match my card.”

What to do now

Try these in order. Stop as soon as one works.

  1. Copy the name from the card, not the app

Bank apps often display names in a different order than the card itself.

    About 1 min
  2. Drop middle names and punctuation

Use plain ASCII letters and a single space. Remove accents, hyphens, and suffixes.

    About 1 min
  3. Remove the card and add it again

Cached data causes repeat failures. Delete the card, restart the app, then add it fresh.

    About 3 min

Why this happens

Ranked by how often it is the cause.

You typed your given name first while the card shows family name first, or the reverse.

Look at the embossed text on the physical card.

Likelihood: high

You included a middle name, hyphen, or accent that the card does not show.

Use only the characters printed on the card.

Likelihood: medium

The account name and the card name belong to different people.

The card must be in the account holder's name.

Likelihood: low

If that does not work

Get out of the queue first. Solve the payment later.

  • Try a card in a simpler name format

Some issuers print only first and last name.

  • Complete verification at a staffed counter

Hotel front desks often help with onboarding apps.

  • Use cash for the immediate purchase

Do not let a name field block your day.
